Language is a bridge that connects the world, and at HuZ School, German language learning has long extended far beyond the classroom. On January 8, the secondary school German Speech Event was successfully held. This event not only highlighted students’ learning achievements, but also provided valuable practice opportunities and practical insights for those preparing for the DSD examination. At the same time, it enabled students to build confidence and experience for future language assessments.
At the event, students—supported by carefully prepared PowerPoint presentations—delivered fluent and authentic German speeches that combined cultural insight with everyday life. Their confident performances earned enthusiastic applause from the audience. The speeches were both intellectually engaging and warmly expressive, with many memorable highlights.
Some students offered in-depth analyses of Germany’s innovative technologies and rigorous education system, demonstrating strong cultural understanding. Others vividly introduced traditional customs and attire associated with Oktoberfest. Several students focused on Heidelberg University, tracing its long history and academic prestige. There were also personal and relatable stories—sharing life with pets or recounting enjoyable moments in the kitchen—which added warmth and a strong sense of everyday life to the presentations.
In addition to its annual German reading and speech activities, the DSD examination serves as a core certification of German language proficiency and is widely regarded as a “golden key” to German universities. The school has established a comprehensive DSD examination platform, enabling students to complete the entire preparation and certification process conveniently on campus.
Throughout this speech event, students strengthened their abilities in topic selection, content development, oral expression, and responding to questions through an immersive, real-world speaking environment. Their strong overall competence in German language use was clearly demonstrated.
