Hübschmann·Zhan School successfully hosted its German debate competition, designed to hone students’ German language proficiency and foster critical thinking skills. After intense semifinal and final rounds, the event concluded on a high note, with every participant experiencing valuable growth through the clash of ideas.
The debate followed a structured format: two-minute opening statements, 12 minutes of free debate, and one-minute closing remarks per speaker, providing a comprehensive assessment of participants’ skills. Students conducted in-depth research beforehand, gathering data, citing examples, and repeatedly refining their speeches, thereby laying a solid foundation for both this competition and future youth debate events.
The event was full of highlights, as debaters engaged passionately with thought-provoking topics such as “Should every young person in Germany join a club?”, “Should teenagers receive pocket money?”, and “Should the curfew for 14–16-year-olds in Germany be abolished?” Both sides remained composed and articulate, responding swiftly during the free-debate segment and fully demonstrating the intellectual agility of their young minds.
Through this competition, participants improved their spoken German, logical reasoning, and ability to respond on the spot. Following the event, German teachers provided professional feedback and valuable suggestions to help each student push beyond their limits.
This debate activity not only offered students a platform to showcase their talents but also laid a strong foundation for future events. May all participants carry forward what they have learned, continue to refine their skills, and shine even more brightly in competitions to come.
