On June 21st, we celebrated World Music Day. Our 3rd graders created an English newspaper themed around music, under the guidance of their teacher, Kealan.
Using vivid language and stylish pictures, students introduced various types of music and shared stories of musicians. They also included a "What's Your Jam? Music Genre Survey" on the last page, inviting readers to vote for their favorite genre among 12 options. In making this newspaper, our students actively collected information and arranged the layout meticulously, demonstrating their interest in music and their high proficiency in English.
The 3rd graders confidently distributed their creative and informative newspapers from class to class, proudly introducing the content and sharing their work with others. Students from other classes showed great interest, reading eagerly and engaging with the Grade 3 ‘journalists.’ This blend of diverse musical cultures provided everyone with a unique reading experience.
This project was not only an exercise in making newspapers but also an extension of the students' learning abilities. Through this opportunity, we witnessed their love for music, passion for English writing.
