As the Spring Festival came to a close with the sound of firecrackers, we began our new semester with new hopes and aspirations. The students of Hübschmann·Zhan School celebrated the Lantern Festival in a memorable way by attempting a hundred-person dragon dance.
On the morning of February 23rd, HuZ School launched an activity called 'Auspicious Dragon celebrates Lantern Festival'. Amidst the festive atmosphere of the Lantern Festival, students immersed themselves in the fun of traditional Chinese customs.
We wrote the character of “Fu” to express our beautiful vision of a happy life in the new year. Although each one is special and unique, they each carry the same good wishes for a happy Lantern Festival!
The dragon dance is a traditional highlight of the Lantern Festival, and the dragon is a symbol of courage and strength in Chinese culture. To experience the dragon dance firsthand, our students and parents made the dragon head, body, and tail themselves. The playground came alive with the drumbeat music and the dazzling dragon dance. Everyone held their dragon dance sticks and moved with agility and grace. The amazing dragon dance earned cheers and applause. We wish the auspicious dragon will bring us a year of joy and prosperity!
We celebrated the Lantern Festival by guessing riddles, making Yuanxiao, and paper-cutting. These are the most common ways to enjoy this special day of reunion. The school also played the movie “Wish Dragon” for everyone to watch. These activities showed our appreciation and respect for traditional culture.
At Hübschmann·Zhan School, we foster a culture of diversity and openness, and we invite our students to explore the beauty of different traditions and festivals. The Lantern Festival is a time to celebrate reunion, harmony, and freedom, which are also our wishes for the new year!
As we embark on a new beginning, students and teachers of Hübschmann·Zhan School will join hands with the wider community, ushering in a fresh new chapter of our story.
