On a vibrant spring day, the halls of Hübschmann·Zhan School were awakened by the passionate sounds of live instruments. The Berlin-based rock duo Treptow brought an extraordinary musical sharing session to the students and faculty. Comprised of singer-songwriter Philipp Taubert and percussionist Lukas Lindner, Treptow is renowned on the international stage for their unique musical style and rich performance experience. Their visit to the school was more than a musical performance—it was a heartfelt artistic exchange that transcended borders and cultures.
Since its formation, the band has toured more than ten countries and held over 300 concerts. Committed to writing lyrics in German, they skillfully blend the depth of German culture with the intensity of rock music. During the music workshop organized by the school, the two members of Treptow generously shared their creative journey and stage experiences. They vividly described how daily life inspires their songwriting, transforming emotions and reflections into lyrics. From a professional perspective, they explained the important role of percussion in rock music. Their engaging explanations made even complex music theory accessible, and the students’ eyes sparkled with curiosity and passion for music.
Students also showcased pieces from the school band, enthusiastically asking questions about music. Philipp and Lukas responded with patience, even demonstrating techniques in person and guiding students on how to express musical emotion more effectively. In this relaxed and joyful atmosphere, two generations of musicians bridged gaps of age and nationality through their shared love of rock music, creating a meaningful exchange that left a lasting impact.
This musical exchange not only brought students closer to the power of German-language music and deepened their understanding of rock, but also built a valuable learning platform for young music lovers on campus. Through direct interaction with an internationally renowned band, students broadened their musical horizons and strengthened their determination to pursue their musical dreams.
