Journey to the 2024 MSA Exam | HuZ Deutsche Schule Shenyang
Apr  03, 2024

Sunday (Portal)

In the morning at 7:30 a.m., we checked in at Shenyang Airport. After that, our parents encouraged us and gave us a lucky bracelet as a gift. At 9:00 a.m., we left Shenyang with excited hearts and made our way to the destination, Shanghai.

After our arrival at Shanghai airport, a bus took us to the hotel. After a short rest in the hotel, we visited the exam rooms in the school for the next few days. The school in Shanghai is much bigger than ours and everyone was impressed with the tour. After a short visit, we went to the mall next to the hotel to get our dinner. In the evening we all gathered in the lobby and prepared for the German test the next day, everyone was very concentrated.

Monday(Lian)

On the nice day of March 4, 2024, although a little bit excited, we were very confident because we are prepared enough. We set off at 7:25 after breakfast. On the previous day, Mr. Bauer took us through an oral practice and a brief review, which was very efficient and comprehensive. Besides, the Gymnasium students were pleased to be able to choose a topic between an excerpt from a biography and a discussion about using tablets in class. All Gymnasium students, without exception, chose the second topic because we had practiced several times with example tasks of this topic and had got experience from the previous class work.

Due to the difference of tasks, the Realschule students initially encountered certain difficulties (e.g. grammar), which they successfully overcome. Shortly after the exam, the students were too tired to take the planned P.E. class and went back to the hotel. Afterwards we went to the nearest mall together with the teachers and ate Japanese curry together. This challenging day was then ended with an intensive study session instructed by the teachers.

Tuesday(Philip)

After the exciting Monday, we continued with the English MSA on Tuesday. Not yet fully recovered from Monday's exam, the Grade 10 students ran forward into the English MSA exam again. After the exam, some students felt that the tasks were much easier compared to the German one. After a short break, we took the music lessons and created beautiful melodies with the Shanghai students. It was also a great way to get to know each other better. After class, we went to their cafeteria for the first time. There are different food options available. Afterwards we decided to go back to the hotel, where we had a two-hour free time either to study or go shopping in the mall. Later, at around 6 p.m., we all went to the mall together with the teachers to eat pizza. All in all, it was a nice day.

Pro Tip: If you have English lessons with Ms. Chen, you are fully equipped for the English MSA, it’s never too much to get prepared!

Wednesday(Irini)

There were no exams on Wednesday, but we had to attend classes in the German School Shanghai as normal as in the previous two days. The lessons we attended were German ones. Chinese and French lessons were only for those who had studied these languages. We then had lunch with our teachers as usual, and spent a lot of time together. After dinner we had a geography lesson, where we were divided into several groups. We discussed about the different syndromes in cities.

Then we went back to the hotel and took a rest for 45 minutes in our room before we met again in the lobby. The gymnasium students have studied for math exam and the Realschule students was writing the report of the exam trip March 2024. For the rest of the evening, we took a few photos together, spent time in the lobby and ordered food online.

Thursday(Feifan)

On Thursday, the gymnasium students took their last exam, the Math! Although everyone agreed that it was difficult, but we all did well in the exam. After the exam, we had English lessons with the students of the 10th grade at the German School Shanghai. In the English class, we were divided into different groups for role-play, which was a lot of fun. After lunch at the German School Shanghai, we said goodbye to the teachers and students there and expressed our wishes to see each other again next time. After a small break of two hours at the hotel, we went to the TACO restaurant in the city center and enjoyed our meal. Afterwards we enjoyed a delicious drink on the top floor of the Shanghai International Finance Center and enjoyed the night view of the whole city. To commemorate this wonderful exam journey, we also took many nice group photos.

Friday(Odin)

March 8 the Friday was not only the International Women's Day, but also the last day that HuZ School G10 students spent in Shanghai. However, this did not influence us to make this day as interesting and exciting as the previous days.

With joy and the desire to see friends and family again, the students started the day together with a buffet breakfast at the hotel. Then we took the bus to the Bund, where we went for a walk along the river.

After a short stay at the Costa Coffee, where we refreshed ourselves with coffee and desserts, we continued the tour together with our teachers to the "Shanghai People's Heroes Monument" and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai.

After the walk, the Grade10 students were allowed with a 1.5-hour free time around the city center. We all took this period to go shopping in the mall nearby.

Irini and Feifan bought themselves personal care products, while Portal, Philip, Lian and Odin were mainly interested in anime products.

When the free time was over, everyone gathered together and showed what we bought to each other and took the bus to the airport in time.

Our flight took off shortly after the  boarding time of 2:10 p.m. When we arrived, we were gifted with flowers by families. This unforgettable trip left us with a good memory until today.
