HuZ School | Enjoy mathematics on a cross-cultural Pi Day! | HuZ Deutsche Schule Shenyang
Mar  22, 2024

What is Pi Day? Pi Day, celebrated on March 14th (3.14), is an international mathematics festival. It honors the mathematical constant π (Greek letter “π”), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (approximately 3.14). On this day, teachers at Hübschmann·Zhan School organized a mathematics exploration session for Chinese and German students. Together, they delved into mathematical concepts, creating a rich cross-cultural learning environment!

During the mathematics exploration session, the teacher explained the origins and importance of π to the students, tailoring the discussion to their interests. Using mathematics as a means of communication, everyone let their creativity flow and designed vibrant Pi Day posters. Through this process, students showcased their unique ideas and deepened their understanding of the significance of π in scientific progress!

Finally, we celebrated Pi Day together in a relaxing and palatable way, students were eating different flavors of pie while competing with each other to see who could recite the most digits of Pi.

The engaging course sparked students’ passion for mathematics, extending their learning beyond the classroom. We hope that each student experiences the magic of math through Pi Day activities and continues to explore the subject’s mysteries. We eagerly await their progress in mathematics during the next Pi Day!
