The 17th International Symposium on Science, Technology & Education Policy(ISSTEP), jointly organized by Zhejiang University and the Education Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was held with the theme of training excellent engineers for the modern industrial system in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on December 9-10, 2022. Hübschmann Zhan Education Group CEO Lawrence Huebschmann, Hübschmann Zhan School Principal Mike Liu and Hübschmann Zhan School Executive Principal Gao Shuang were invited by Zhejiang University to the ISSTEP. Keyspeakers included the Ministry of Education of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beihang University, University of Cincinnati, Canadian Academy of Engineering, BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd., Baidu, Geely Holdings Group, etc.
During the symposium, experts and scholars from top research universities, renowned research institutions and engineering & technology enterprises at home and abroad made extensive and in-depth remarks and discussions on training excellent engineers for the future.

Ye Min, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Zhejiang University, expressed his welcome to the Hübschmann Zhan School delegates, and had a lively discussion with them about the topic "Encounter School". Secretary Ye Min highly appreciated the Encounter concept and expressed his eagerness to go for a visit to our school as soon as possible to fully experience the unique and diversified teaching system.
It was proposed in the symposium that there should be innovations of the integration of education to the industry already in the schools while inheriting the educational characteristics of industrial-academic cooperation. By realizing the needs of the country and participating in the exploration and practice of talent training reform, we can promote, enhance and truly achieve a deep integration.
