At the beginning of December, HuZ International School started a cooperation with an animal shelter under the motto "HuZ cares". The aim of this collaboration is to help the animals together with the school community. At first, students built a donation house in art class. Due to the epidemic situation, this work could no longer be continued in January. Therefore, the school decided immediately to start an online painting competition under the motto "Harmony between human and environment". All students were asked to send their works to our art teachers. For each work sent, school made a donation in the name of the participants.
Fortunately, shortly before the start of the holiday, it was finally possible for students, teachers and parents of HuZ school to hand over the collected donations to the animal shelter together in person. As you can see in the following pictures, it was a very nice afternoon and numerous donations arrived at the shelter.
On a cold afternoon at the beginning of February, students who took part in the painting competition, as well as teachers and parents gathered in front of the gate of HuZ school. After the supplies, some of which were donated by the students through participation in the online painting competition and the rest were donated by teachers, were loaded into the vans, we drove off.
When the children arrived at the shelter, they watched and played with the cute little animals.
Children, teachers, parents and staffs of the shelter unloaded the donations from the vans together.
Overall, 500 kg of corn flour, 100 kg of dog food, 2 sets of heaters, 15 large and 25 medium-sized dog houses, 20 sacks of animal food and 40 large dog pillows were donated.
Then the manager of the shelter took us around and showed us the animals and their living conditions. Children followed the manager, listened carefully, asked about impressive stories in the shelter.
After the tour, all teachers, students and parents of HuZ began to build windproof dog houses for the animals.
Thanks to the great collaboration of everyone participated, 40 dog houses were set up within half an hour. It was nice to see how adults and children supported each other during the construction.
Staffs from the shelter helped us bring the finished dog houses into the cages of the animals. The dogs seemed to enjoy the new warm things. We hope that our dog houses can help all of the animals in the shelter to survive this cold winter!
In the end, everyone participated helped the staffs from the shelter to bring the donated supplies to the storehouse. According to the shelter, animals can have a happy Spring Festival with these heaters and food! Shortly before the start of the Spring Festival, the shelter reported that they had already distributed the donated food and that the animals really liked it.
