At Hübschmann-Zhan School, we learn together and grow together. As part of our commitment to integrating green education into real-world learning, students from Grades 5 to 12 took part in a hands-on harvesting activity on April 14. Stepping beyond the classroom, they picked strawberries, explored organic vegetables, experienced the gifts of nature, and discovered the joy of hard work and harvest.
Filled with excitement and anticipation, students enjoyed a lively journey, eager to connect with nature. Upon arriving at the farm, they were greeted by rows of vibrant red strawberries and flourishing organic vegetables. Through guided learning, students explored how organic crops are grown—from soil enrichment to natural pest control and fertilization. Discovering that these crops are cultivated without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers helped them appreciate the dedication behind every harvest.
Students carefully selected and tasted strawberries while learning about different vegetable varieties and their growth cycles. Through hands-on interaction, they deepened their understanding and allowed green education to truly take root. Carrying baskets full of freshly picked produce, they returned with a strong sense of accomplishment and joy. This harvesting experience is a vivid example of the school’s commitment to experiential learning, and a meaningful opportunity for students to connect with nature.
