September 21, the eighth fifteenth day of the lunar calendar, is the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the four traditional Chinese festivals. Before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the children of the German Section of the Hübschmann Zhan International School Shenyang experienced the Chinese-style holiday in their Chinese class.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, the Spring Festival, the Qingming Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival are known as the four traditional festivals in China. Since ancient times, Chinese people have used the full moon to symbolize the reunion of people on the Mid-Autumn Festival, the longing for hometown, loved ones, and at the same time the harvest and a happy life.
In the Chinese class, the teacher introduced the elements of the festival: full moon, the rabbit, moon cake, etc., and explained in detail the origin of this tradition. The students made their own posters for it. They were proud and happy about the newfound knowledge that they can now pass on to their friends.
This is one of our many daily courses, and classes like this: the integration of different countries and cultures in China, Germany and France, are also happening constantly in the school. Respect your own culture, and understand and experience more different cultures. This is probably the charm of cultural encounters! Learning together and growing together. The Huebschmann Zhan International School wishes everyone a happy homecoming!
