On Wednesday, December 11th, 2019, the German and Chinese sections of the HuZ International School visited the Conrad Hotel in Shenyang as part of an orientation internship. First we were welcomed in the reception and led to a meeting room including snacks and drinks.
After all students and teachers had come together in five groups, each group should think of a question that was answered during the day. Our question was: "What makes the Conrad Hotel so special compared to other hotels?" After a brief explanation of the daily routine, we were again divided into two groups with which we were allowed to visit the hotel.
We went into the ball room first and then we were shown the restaurants and rooms; A lot was said about the design of the individual areas. We found it very interesting to see how much work is behind the design and how many clever thoughts have been made.
Afterwards we were shown the employees' offices, technical things were explained and how everything works behind the scenes in general. When we were done, we were all pretty hungry. That is why we were offered to eat in the staff canteen. Back in the meeting room, we answered the questions of all groups and learned a lot about the CV of the hotel employee. He also dealt with many things from working life, such as how strenuous his work is and what requirements you need for this kind of job.
In summary, we can all say that we have had a good overview of how much work the management of a hotel is and how many things you actually have to pay attention to that may not seem so important to one or the other at first. The visit also helped us to find out what we would like to study in the future and whether something could possibly be considered in the field of tourism.
Finally, we gave the people who led us through the hotel a small gift as a thank you. We also received a little gift to take home from them, thank you!
